The GMC Women's Golf program is pleased to announce that Emma Long from Tallahassee, Florida has committed to Georgia Military College and the new Women's Golf program for the Fall of 2018. Emma is currently a Senior at Leon High School where she is carrying a 3.45 GPA. She will be pursuing her Associates Degree here at GMC as well as continuing her development in her golf game as she strives for lofty goals both academically and athletically.
She is continuing to improve on her game as she is currently competing on a Junior Tour in Florida. With a career best 41 on nine holes and mid 80's for 18, she has a big upside in her development. "When I had the opportunity to meet her and spend time on the golf course with her, it was very clear that she has a high ceiling. With no real official golf specific training, she has carved out a golf game that is impressive. We look forward to her spending the next two years here with us at GMC and are excited about the growth we will see both on and off the golf course", stated Coach Sean Gillespie.
Emma has been a volunteer several times for the Capital City Country Club Junior Golf Camps and was also involved with the Carolinas Leadership Academy in 2015 and 2016.
Her H.S. coach, Molly Smith, had this to say about her, "She keeps an even temper no matter the circumstances on the golf course. Emmas has been our star player on teh team for the three years she has been at Leon. She quietly leads by example. She is alwasy the first to volunteer to help at extra functions. All this being said for her drive and dedication, she also knows how to have fun! She seemed to enjoy being with the team at dinners and hanging out. Her peers like her and respect her".
"We can't be more please with the 5 young ladies that have commmitted so far to the GMC Women's Golf program. Their work ethic both on and off the course and their character exemplies our core values here at GMC. We know they will represent the themselves, their families and the institution well next fall", stated Gillespie.
The Bulldogs will start their inaugural season this coming fall of 2018 by competing in 3 tournaments around the southest region.
