The winning streak continues as the Softball Dogs' pitchers hurl 2 shutouts against the Indians of USC Salkehatchie. The streak is now at 15. The Bulldogs record now stands at 28-11 overall and 12-0 in Conference.
Sarah Middleton threw the first of the shutouts with a 6-0 win. The offense used a 5 run third inning to put the game away. In the inning, the Indian's pitcher had some control issues that included 2 walks and a hit batter. Those free bases along with 3 hits plated the 5 runs. Lindsey South, Kaedy Borst, Cathleen Nugue, and Sarah Middleton had the RBIs. The dogs added a run in the sixth inning on a leadoff single by Lauren King. She stole second and later scored on an error by the Indian's third baseman.
Celeste Turner earned her first collegiate win in game 2 throwing a 3-0 shutout. Runs were hard to come by for the Dogs as well, but they did manage to get enough. The first run scored on 4 consecutive free bases, 3 walks and a hit batter. In the third with 2 outs Kelley Bagarose hit a single then stole her first collegiate base. King then doubled to drive Bagarose home. In the sixth inning King doubled again and scored later on a ground ball to second.
The Bulldogs stole 11 bases in the doubleheader.
