Our #16 ranked GMC Bulldogs traveled to Nelsonville, OH and posted 65-9 win against the Hocking Hawks. The Bulldogs amassed 667 all-purpose yards and held the Hawks to just 117 in total offense. The Bulldogs scored multiple ways and kept the Hawks on their heels all day long.
On the opening possession, the Bulldogs forced a 3 and out but mishandled the punt to give the Hawks a scoring chance in which they capitalized on. The Bulldogs came right back and Demekus Taylor connected with Trey Brown for a 52 yard TD. The Hawks sustained their only drive of the day and capped it with a field goal, the Hawks last trip to the scoreboard as the Bulldogs dominated the remainder of the game. Demekus Taylor hooked up with Trey Brown for a 40 yard TD catch. Special teams got in on the action when Marvin Dallas blocked a punt for Terrance Pratt to scoop it up and ran in for a TD giving the Bulldogs a 21-9 lead at the end of the first. As the second quarter began the defense forced another punt, then one play later Travell Jones busted loose for a 93 yard TD run. Keylin Roach grabbed an interception and returned it for 55 yards. To close the half Nicholas Bohn connected with Steven Campbell for a 27 yard TD bringing the Bulldogs to 42-9 at the half.
In the second half, Bohn orchestrated a nice opening drive and Travell Jones pounded in a two-yard TD. The defense forced another punt and a bad snap resulted in a Safety giving the Bulldogs another 2 points. Keylin Roach took the kick and ripped off a 35-yard return giving Bohn and the Bulldogs great field position but a turnover on the four-yard line stopped that drive. The defense continued to stand tall. Bohn put together a 64-yard drive that ended in a Tyler Jordan TD run. The Bulldogs mounted one more drive and Travell Jones picked up his third rushing TD with a nice 16-yard run. The game ended as Keylin Roach grabbed his second interception.
Bohn led the offense, he was 11-13 for 152, TD and also rushed for 11 yards. Travell Jones carried the ball 8 times for 143 yards and three TD's. Tyler Jordan carried 10 for 58 yards and one score. Trey Brown caught 3 balls for 109 yards and 2 TD's, and Steven Campbell picked up the other offensive TD. Special teams and defense accounted for 22 points. Ashton Musgrove was a perfect 8 for 8 on PAT's, Jayelin Davis returned a blocked punt for a TD and Keylin Roach returned an Interception for a touchdown.
Defensively the Bulldogs dominated in every fashion. The 117 yards allowed is the lowest of the season. They had seven sacks for a season-high and 18 tackles for a loss and 2 interceptions also season highs. Tyrek Williams was all over the field laying one punishing blow after another, he recorded 5 tackles including 2 for a loss. Rod Gattison, Jalynn Tarver, and Yaya Diaby each had 4 tackles. Keylin Roach grabbed two interceptions, his first of the year.
