The GMC Men's Golf Team headed to Athens, Alabama this week to compete in the Redhawk Fall Collegiate Invite and they made the trip worthwhile. The Bulldogs had four players shoot below par as they fired 9 out of 10 rounds in the 70's posting a 292-290 for a 582. The Bulldogs finished 3rd place missing the number one spot by 7 shots.
The Bulldogs were paced by Austin Quillian, who shot a back to back 1 under par 71's to finish 5th overall. Dusty Watts just missed the top 10 and posted a 146, finishing in 11th place. Dylan Humphries and Noah Hankins tied for 17th shooting, 71-77 for 148. Palmer Wilson rounded out the scoring with a 75-82 for 157.
Coach Van Horn was very excited following the match. "We just missed here but it was a good event for us. When you have four out of five players shoot below par good things will happen and we can expect more of the same for the Bulldogs in the spring when the National Championship defense begins in earnest.
This event brings an end to the Bulldogs Fall Season, though training will continue both on the course and the Mason Golf Performance Lab. The Bulldogs will no doubt be ready to compete in the spring.
