Coach Taylor Burks returned to Georgia Military College in 2016 after spending time teaching and coaching at the high school level. Coach Burks served as a graduate assistant at Georgia Military from 1996-1999. During this time, he completed his Master’s degree from Georgia College and State University. In 1999, he went to Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida and served as the defensive coordinator. In July 2001, Coach Burks returned to GMC as the Linebacker coach and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator. At the start of the 2002 season, Coach Burks was promoted to the Defensive Coordinator position.
In 2003, he was named the NJCAA Defensive Coordinator of the year by American Football Monthly. He served as the Defensive Coordinator until 2006. During the spring of 2007, Coach Burks left to take a high school position closer to his family in Tennessee. From 2007 until 2015 he moved to various coaching positions in the Nashville area and even served as the head coach at Hillwood High School for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. He has returned to Georgia Military College to coach Linebacker, coordinate the Special Teams, and coordinate the Strength & Conditioning program. He is married to Emily Leslie Burks.
