The GMC Softball (28-20) team were on the road again yesterday as they run their win streak to 6 games by beating East Georgia State College 5-2 in seven innings in Game one in Swainsboro, Ga. behind Jenni McDaniel, who went 2-2 as she singled in the fourth and fifth innings to drive in critical runs.
Madason Messer was a workhorse in the circle for the Bulldogs as she pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, five hits and no walks while striking out three. The Bulldogs didn't relinquish the lead after scoring the first run in the first inning when they scored on an RBI single by Kiley Rediger.
One run in the bottom of the third helped East Georgia State College close its deficit to 2-1. A sacrifice fly by Hand fueled East Georgia State College's comeback. Madason Messer ended the inning by getting Winner to strike out.
One run in the bottom of the fourth helped East Georgia State College close its deficit to 3-2. A fielder's choice sparked East Georgia State College's rally. The East Georgia State College threat came to an end when Madason Messer finally got Wynn to ground out.
The Bulldogs added two more runs in the top of the seventh to pad the lead. The inning looked promising, as Kirsten Albright singled, plating Jordan Crews to kick things off. That was followed up by Jade Moncrief's single, bringing home Caitlin Collins.
In Game two, The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead on East Georgia State College and captured a 10-0 victory in the second game of the doubleheader. The game was decided quickly as the Bulldogs exerted their will early with seven runs in the first three innings.
The Bulldogs' Danielle Downs kept East Georgia State College off the scoreboard for all five innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out three.
The Bulldogs built upon their lead with two runs in the third on a passed ball scored Jordan Crews to get the Bulldogs on the board in the inning.
The Bulldogs added three more runs in the top of the fourth. The inning looked promising, as Jordan Crews singled, scoring Danielle Downs to kick things off. That was followed up by Sara Alderman's single, bringing home Kiley Rediger and Jordan Crews.
The Bulldogs will be in action next on Saturday, April 9th as they will travel to Georgia Highlands for a doubleheader which is scheduled to start at 4pm in Dallas, Georgia.
