GMC Battles in High-Scoring Doubleheader Against Rock Valley College

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — March 10, 2026 — Georgia Military College Softball battled through an offensively charged doubleheader on Tuesday, despite falling in both matchups to the No. 5–ranked Rock Valley Golden Eagles. The Bulldogs produced bursts of momentum, timely swings, and gritty at-bats that kept the home crowd engaged deep into both contests.

The opening game saw Rock Valley jump out to an early lead with two home runs in the top of the first. GMC responded quickly. Jayna Kearson ignited the offense with a two‑run triple into the gap, and Sophia Boutelle followed with a sacrifice fly that brought Kearson home to give the Bulldogs the lead. GMC extended the advantage in the third when Olivia Bridger stole home and Ana Land lined an RBI single down the right-field line.

Rock Valley countered with a two-run homer in the fourth and later seized control with a seven‑run fifth inning that shifted the momentum. GMC continued to compete at the plate, highlighted by Kayleigh Hester's solo home run in the sixth. Kearson remained steady in the heart of the order, finishing with two hits and two RBI. She and Bridger combined for four of the team's hits, while the Bulldogs stayed aggressive on the bases with three stolen bags and added a standout defensive double play.

Game two turned into an offensive marathon, with GMC piling up 15 hits. The Bulldogs struck early when Boutelle drove in the first run of the game, followed immediately by Land launching a home run to left that energized the crowd. In the second inning, Mackenzi Trull blasted the first of her two home runs, and Kearson added another RBI single to extend the lead.

Rock Valley regained momentum with a grand slam in the fifth, but Trull responded almost instantly with her second home run of the night, tying the game at eight and refusing to allow the Bulldogs' momentum to fade. GMC surged again in the seventh when Longino crushed a two‑run homer, an infield error brought home two additional runs, and Boutelle ripped a game-tying double into the gap.

Both teams traded blows throughout the late innings, but Rock Valley managed to string together one final rally in the eighth to secure the win. Despite the result, GMC's offense left a significant mark on the game and on the day as a whole. Kearson delivered another three‑hit performance, continuing her consistency at the plate. Boutelle produced key RBI moments throughout the evening, and Trull's two‑homer effort anchored a lineup that refused to back down through constant momentum swings.

GMC returns home on Saturday to host GCAA rival Gordon State College. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
