Milledgeville, Ga. — Georgia Military College earned a thrilling walk‑off victory on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Georgia Highlands College 2–1 in a tightly contested matchup that showcased dominant pitching, strong defense, and timely hitting.
Georgia Military College struck first in the opening inning when Sophia Boutelle drove a double into left field to score Kaiden Bradford, giving the Bulldogs early momentum. Georgia Highlands College responded in the top of the third, to even the score at one.
Both teams continued to battle, but the Bulldogs refused to be denied. Sophomore Olivia Bridger came up clutch on both sides of the ball in the later innings. In the fifth, she made a standout defensive play on a sharply hit ball, turning a key double play to extinguish a rally. Then, in the bottom of the seventh, Bridger delivered the game‑winning moment—driving a shot into the right‑center field gap to bring Bradford home and secure the walk‑off win.
In the circle, Claire Clements turned in a dominant complete‑game performance. The Georgia Military College starter allowed just two hits and one run across seven innings while striking out five and keeping Georgia Highlands College off balance throughout the afternoon.
Offensively, Bridger and Bradford led the way with two hits apiece, while Bridger and Boutelle recorded the team's two runs batted in. Defensively, the Bulldogs played a flawless game, committing no errors, highlighted by Bridger's eight defensive putouts and the pivotal double play.
The win moves the Bulldogs into second place in the GCAA standings, keeping them firmly in the hunt. Next up, the Bulldogs travel to East Georgia for a doubleheader on March 27.
